IPAF Trainings in Saudi Arabia
Future Institute for Advanced Professional Training is an IPAF Approved Training Centre in Saudi Arabia. We run IPAF trainings for people who operate, supervise and manage mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), such as scissor lifts and boom lifts, at our Al Khobar centre and on client sites.
Every IPAF course ends with a theory test and a practical test. Trainees who pass get an IPAF PAL card or certificate, which anyone can check online on the IPAF website.

What Are IPAF Trainings?
IPAF stands for the International Powered Access Federation. It sets the training standard for people who work on MEWPs, the machines that lift workers up to work at height.
IPAF trainings teach you how to check, drive and use these machines safely, and what to do in an emergency. IPAF courses can only be run by IPAF Approved Training Centres, and IPAF audits each centre regularly.

Why IPAF Trainings Matter on Saudi Work Sites
Working at height is one of the biggest causes of serious injury at work. Falls, tip-overs and people getting trapped against beams can all happen when a MEWP is used the wrong way.
IPAF trainings teach operators to spot these dangers before they cause harm. Many contractors and site owners in Saudi Arabia ask for a valid IPAF PAL card before anyone can use a MEWP on site.

MEWP Operator Course
The main IPAF course for anyone who will operate a MEWP. You need no experience to join. The course has a theory part and test, then practical training and a test on the machine categories you choose.
We train for Static Vertical (1A), Static Boom (1B, 1B+), Mobile Vertical (3A, 3A+) and Mobile Boom (3B, 3B+). Most people complete two categories, such as 3A and 3B, in one course.
PAL+ Advanced Operator Training
PAL+ adds extra hands-on training and testing on a machine category. When you pass, a “+” is added to that category on your PAL card, for example 3B+.
MEWP Demonstrator Course
A one-day course for experienced staff. It teaches you how to show operators their duties, the checks to do before use, safe ways to operate, and the limits of each machine.
Harness Use and Inspection
The operator course includes only basic harness training. This course goes further: how to wear and adjust a harness, attach it to the MEWP, and inspect harnesses and lanyards so faults are found early. IPAF says all harness qualifications are valid for five years.
MEWPs for Managers (MEWP Management)
A one-day course for managers, supervisors and planners. It covers planning MEWP work, doing a risk assessment, choosing the right machine and reducing risks. After you pass the written test, you get an IPAF certificate.
IPAF Machine Categories Explained
IPAF sorts MEWPs into categories, and your PAL card lists the ones you are trained on. You can only operate the categories shown on your card.
“Static” machines stay in one place while the platform is raised, but “mobile” machines can move while raised. “Vertical” machines go straight up, and “boom” machines reach up and out. Our IPAF trainings cover all four main categories.

IPAF Online Training: What You Can Do Online
IPAF online training lets you finish the theory part of some IPAF trainings at home or at work, at your own pace. It saves time, because you spend less time in the classroom.
The practical training and test must always be done in person at an IPAF Approved Training Centre. Operating a MEWP is a hands-on skill that a trainer needs to see.
Your IPAF Certificate and IPAF Card
When you pass the operator course, you get an IPAF certificate and a PAL card, which stands for Powered Access Licence. The PAL card is the IPAF card that most sites ask to see.
IPAF issues cards through its ePAL app, so your IPAF card is always on your phone. The card shows your photo, the machine categories you can operate, your test date and your expiry date.
IPAF Certificate Check Online
Any employer or site manager can do an IPAF certificate check online on the IPAF website. It is free and takes about a minute.
This check helps stop fake cards and keeps sites safe. The result shows the holder’s name, photo and the machine categories they are trained to operate.
