IADC WellSharp Courses in Saudi Arabia
Future Institute delivers IADC WellSharp well control training for drilling crews across the Kingdom.
What Is IADC WellSharp?
IADC WellSharp is the well control training and certification program run by the International Association of Drilling Contractors. It sets one global standard for what rig personnel must know about kicks, blowout prevention and well kill methods, and only IADC approved providers can teach it. Courses are split by role, so each person learns what their position actually requires, and certificates are recognized by drilling contractors and operators worldwide.

Why WellSharp Certification Matters
On Saudi land rigs and jack-ups, drilling contractors must prove that anyone with well control duties is trained and certified for their level. A valid WellSharp certificate is that proof, and many rigs won’t let a crew member start a hitch without one. It’s essential for:
Drilling Operations Courses
WellSharp Drilling Introductory
The WellSharp Introductory course gives new rig crew a solid grounding in well control, from hydrostatic pressure and kick warning signs to shut-in procedures and well control drills. It assesses knowledge only, so it suits anyone joining the rig floor for the first time.
Best for: floorhands, derrickhands, roustabouts and entry-level drilling staff
WellSharp Driller Surface Stack
The Driller Surface Stack course trains the person at the console to detect a kick, shut in fast and run a kill using the Driller’s Method or Wait and Weight. Trainees practise every key step on a well control simulator before the practical assessment.
Best for: drillers, assistant drillers and derrickhands moving up
WellSharp Supervisor Surface Stack
The Supervisor Surface Stack course prepares rig leaders to plan for well control, handle complicated kills and run a live well control event from start to finish. It requires a valid Driller level certificate or equivalent.
Best for: toolpushers, rig managers, drilling supervisors and company men
