This course prepares you to handle the medical emergencies you are most likely to face:

  • Basic first aid for burns cool the burn under running water, cover loosely and never apply ice or creams.
  • Basic first aid for nosebleeds (nasal bleeding) sit forward, pinch the soft part of the nose and breathe through the mouth.
  • Bleeding and wounds apply firm direct pressure with a clean dressing and raise the wound if possible.
  • Choking back blows and abdominal thrusts to clear the airway.
  • Cardiac arrest start CPR immediately and send for an AED.
  • Poisoning identify the substance, call emergency services and do not induce vomiting unless told to.
